Dr. John Chappo is currently a full-time faculty member at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Penn State University’s special applied technology mission affiliate, where he teaches both specialized and survey courses in American, Western, and World history. In addition to Dr. Chappo’s ongoing institutional service as faculty representative on the Student Affairs Committee (among other select committees), he continues to support student engagement and campus involvement via programs such as Phi Alpha Theta, history round tables, and history clubs. Beyond his campus support, Dr. Chappo has aided several institutions with their history programs and course design processes in all teaching modalities, especially the use of applied instruction and content for blended and online courses. Dr. Chappo continues to provide consultation in areas of experiential and applied education for K-12 and post-secondary classrooms, areas of expertise he prescribed and advanced while previously serving as a Center Fellow at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. While Dr. Chappo maintains an active research and writing agenda in all areas and aspects of history, Ancient and Modern, his specialization is in Colonial and Antebellum American history, especially in Borderlands, Native American, New Military History, and Religious History.
